This Tom Petty classic was famously sung by the Canadian group The Wallin’ Jennys in 2017 to honor Petty, and here 6 years later at Bar Felice in New York City, Sophie is joined by her college roommates Lilly and Mae in this beautiful rendition of Wildflowers. Petty wrote the song in the early 1990s – “I just took a deep breath and played it into a tape recorder, it’s a stream of consciousness – words, music, chords,” he told American Songwriter magazine in 2014. The song is soothing and its simple message – less is more – is captured beautifully with lyrics like “sail away, kill off the hours, you belong somewhere you feel free, far away from trouble and worry….”
